Chapter 6

My heart was still racing from the full-bodied orgasm, but the elevator doors opening almost sent me into cardiac arrest. Kwame removed the condom, pulled his pants up, and straightened himself up in record time. All I had to do was smooth down my dress that had already dropped when he let me go.

The thrill of getting caught was sexy. The actuality of getting caught was not.

My juices lightly coated my thighs as we flattened ourselves against the wall. The sound of a man whistling while pushing a trash can sounded like a dump truck rumbling through. The floor was full of glass study rooms and open tables. Panic swept through me as I assumed he was headed our way.

I gripped Kwame’s forearm and squeezed my eyes shut. I didn’t know what I was going to do if I got caught but I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I didn’t regret a single moment.

“Let’s go,” he whispered, grabbing my hand and intertwining my fingers with his.

I squeezed his hand and nodded. I couldn’t see what was out there. But I wasn’t scared. I was exhilarated.

We exited the computer lab and made a beeline for the bathroom. With our heads on a swivel we made it past almost all of the study rooms when a small group of women came around the corner.

“Oh!” the woman in front yelped in surprise. “What are you two doing here? This floor isn’t open until summer semester starts.”

“We are actually former students,” Kwame started. “And this beautiful woman right there”—he smiled at me— “is the reason I graduated with a perfect GPA and got into the best architect school in the country.”

“That’s nice, sugar.” The woman put her hands to her chest and then on her hips. “But what are you doing here now?”

He turned to me. “Baby, go ahead to the bathroom and I’ll meet you back here.”

I hesitated for only a moment. “Okay…” Still unsure, I walked around the group of women and headed to the restroom.

Without missing a beat, I heard Kwame say, “I wanted to ask her an important question and I thought doing it where we met would be…”

Even though I couldn’t hear the rest of what he had said because I was too far away, I had the biggest smile on my face.

When I got to the bathroom, I cleaned myself up but quickly remembered I didn’t have my panties. Shit!

But again, I wasn’t even mad about it.

I left to rejoin Kwame and as I walked out, I saw the older man whistling and pushing the trash can from the men’s restroom. The group of women were nowhere to be found.

“The coast is clear,” I noted as I walked up on him.

He draped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me close. “They think we’re getting engaged today so play it cool.” When we got to the elevator car, he added, “And it’s sexy as hell knowing you don’t have anything on under the dress.”

I swatted at him playfully.
